Giving Thanks...

Happy Thanksgiving!  I am late with this posting because we have been so busy doing normal holiday stuff - a big yeah for that!  Steve and I still measure things in before and after Minnesota.  And on significant days (and sometimes insignificant days) I find myself thinking back to what I was doing last year at that time.  It's a good reminder for me to appreciate the minutes - even the crazy/this place is a mess/why can't everyone stop fighting minutes.  We are so, so very thankful to be where we are today.  And it feels good to keep putting days between us and all the fear and uncertainty of last year.  I know that we never get to live without the ugly reality of FA but I do love the times when I can just hug him and be thankful that for this moment, however long or short it may be, everything is good.

The results are back....

and all of Wyatt's tests are normal.  The beauty of being average...just like everyone else!  So, unless something comes up, he is cleared for a year.  We'll head back to Minnesota next October..  He will continue to visit clinic here in Virginia Beach but only every 5-6 months.  He has an appointment next month with an endocrinologist as it is likely he will have some sort endrocrine problem at some point in his life.  And it makes me nervous to think about it but if those tests come back normal - 2009 might be our Year of Normal....knocking on wood...crossing fingers....spinning around 3 times....hope I didn't just jinx us.

We tried to explain the good news from Minnesota to Wyatt.  Not sure that he gets it.  He just wants to use  it as a reason to eat more Halloween candy.  Again, the beauty of being a regular 4 year old?  Or maybe he gets it more than we think...'they are so happy, they'll give me all the candy I want?'
