A trip to PA

| | TrackBacks (0)

Wyatt made his first trip since coming home from Minnesota.  We went up to PA to visit my family in Hershey.   Hershey is one of Wyatt's most favorite places for many reasons.  He loves to see all of his family there, of course.  And he also loves the idea of all thte candy.  Eating is always an issue with Wyatt except when it comes to chocolate.  The guy can eat a lot of candy!  We always make a trip Chocolate World which Wyatt thought was "amazing!".  We always come back to Virginia with A LOT of treats.  He had great time.  And I was very happy to have a drama free trip.  I always feel a little anxious about leaving my comfort zone...always fearful that something will go awry and we'll be away from the doctors.  But Wyatt's doctor told us at his last clinic visit - no more emergency room visits.  A cold is just a cold.  I was happy to hear someone say that I don't have to panic at every sign of illness or rash.  Not that I won't panic anyway but maybe I will be able to talk myself off that limb a little quicker now.

Wyatt's birthday is this Saturday.  A reminder of how far we have come in one year. It will be a year next week that he was diagnosed with bone marrow failure.  It feels like a lifetime ago.  Sometimes I wonder how all of this could happen in just twelve months?  We will certainly count our blessings when we see him blow out those candles.  I remember being in Minnesota and wishing so hard that he would get to have another birthday.  And another party.  He tried so hard to have fun at his party last year but he was just too sick.  This year we have a little extra to celebrate.

Thanks for reading!
